LGU Tiwi wins the Regional Gawad Pamana ng Lahi award

         The local Government Unit of Tiwi is recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last October 10, 2011 as the regional winner of Gawad Pamana ng Lahi, Municipality Category during the 20th Anniversary of the Local Government Code of 1991 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Pasay City.

         The Gawad Pamana ng Lahi award is being conferred by the DILG to deserving local government units for reasons of exemplary performance in administrative governance, social, economic and environmental governance based on the result of the Local Government Performance Monitoring System (LGPMS).

         One Million Pesos (Php 1,000,000.00) will be received by the LGU as winner of the award. This feat of the local unit in the region qualifies the municipality to represent the region in the National Gawad Pamana ng Lahi which will happen in 2012.

LGU Tiwi Conferred with Seal of Good Housekeeping Award

         Another significant recognition is conferred to the Local Government Unit of Tiwi last October 7, 2011. The Seal of Good Housekeeping Award is given to Tiwi in recognition of its good governance performance.

         The Seal of Good Housekeeping Award is a merit-based recognition to Local Government Units to elevate the pratice of governance and encourage transparency, accountability, participation and performance into an institutionalized status.

         Nine Hundred Thousand Pesos will be given to the LGU for winning the award. This is one of 758 municipalities who hold the said recognition.

Tiwi is the Most Outstanding LGU in Albay with Best Practices in Education

         The Local Government Unit of Tiwi is once again the Most Outstanding LGU with Best Practices in Education in the province during the search for Kadunong LGU.

         The award is part of the Gawad Albay sa Edukasyon which is a program of Governor Joey Salceda that recognizes and rewards the significant contributions of teachers, principals, students and local government units to the cause of quality education.

         Tiwi receives Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 200,000.00) as cash incentive fot the said award.

Municipality of Tiwi is Kadunong Hall of Famer

         For three consecutive years, the Municipality of Tiwi is recognized as Kadunong LGU with Best Practices in Education in the province of Albay. This achievement makes the municipality a Kadunong Hall of Famer and a recipient of the Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 300,000.00) cash incentive.

         This recognition proves the noteworthy contibution of Tiwi in developing and bringing quality education to its constituents with its sound education programs and projects.

         The award recieved by Tiwi is part of the Gawad Albay sa Edukasyon which is a program of the provincial government to recognize the contributors to quality education in the province.

         Tiwi is officially conferred on October 26, 2011 along with the other recipents of awards in different categories.
